Zheng Yu is the Director and Senior Partner of W&H Law Firm, Guangzhou Office; Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies; Arbitrator for the China Maritime Arbitration Commission; Arbitrator for the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission; Securities Dispute Mediator for the Securities Association of China; Mediator for the China Futures Association; Mediator for the China Securities Investor Services Center; Mediator for the Guangdong Securities Investor Services and Dispute Mediation Center; Mediator for the Guangzhou International Commercial Mediation Center; and Entrepreneurial Mentor at the China-Singapore International Joint Research Institute.
Mr. Zheng graduated from the Department of International Economic Law at China University of Political Science and Law in 1991. With over two decades of practice, he has earned a strong reputation for his profound legal expertise, extensive practical experience, and a meticulous and responsible approach to his work. He has led his legal team in delivering high-quality services to clients, receiving consistent acclaim. In recognition of his outstanding performance, he was honored with the “Business Achievement Award” by the Guangzhou Lawyers Association for the years 2002, 2004, and 2005. In December 2024, he was named to the ALB Litigator of Asia 2024 ranking by Asian Legal Business. In August 2025, he was recognized on the “Eminent Multi Faceted Legal Practitioners” list at the LegalOne Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Law Awards.
Cases handled by Mr. Zheng have been selected for publication in the Gazette of the Supreme People’s Court, as well as featured as exemplary cases in the “Lawyer’s Perspective” column, which is hosted by the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China and co-organized by the All China Lawyers Association.
In recent years, Mr. Zheng has focused his practice on providing legal services for Chinese enterprises’ overseas investments. Together with W&H’s branches or partner law firms in host countries, he offers comprehensive, full-cycle legal support for direct overseas investments, ranging from investment planning, ODI filing, joint venture negotiations, and investment agreement drafting, to the establishment of Chinese-funded enterprises in the host countries, qualification applications, and routine corporate operations consulting. He has provided full-process legal services for several enterprises making direct investments in the United States, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia, earning high praise from his clients.
