On May 9, 2025, ASNP Law Office had the pleasure of hosting a seminar on “Decarbonization and Carbon Trading in Indonesia: Relevance to the Aviation Sector”, attended Corporate Legal & Compliances, Corporate Secretary, Operation Support, and Corporate Sustainability Division of Garuda Indonesia
The session explored the evolving regulatory landscape on carbon emissions and trading, including key frameworks such as the UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement, and Indonesia’s National Carbon Market (IDXCarbon). The discussion also covered recent domestic regulations such as Presidential Regulation No. 98/2021, the Carbon Tax under the HPP Law, and OJK Regulation No. 14/2023.
Led by Senior Partner Andreas Hartono, SH., LL.M, MCIArb, Partner Jeff Gunarso, and Associates Aufa Auladi and Brian Saputra Hendra, the seminar provided insights into how these frameworks impact the aviation industry and addressed compliance strategies, risks, and opportunities—particularly in light of CORSIA and the future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
